AI Art That Can't Tell Time
GenAI Clock is an Apple Watch and iPhone app that displays AI-generated clock face imagery. It is an art project that explores what happens when generative AI attempts precision tasks like rendering clock faces.
A custom ML algorithm ensures the displayed time is always correct, but the artwork around it is intentionally imperfect: hands sprout extra segments, numerals drift into impossible positions, and dials twist into surreal shapes.
Platforms:
Apple Watch iPhone iPadRequires: watchOS 11.5 or later, iOS 18.5 or later
That's the point! GenAI Clock is an art project that highlights how generative AI struggles with precision tasks. The time shown is always accurate, but the artwork is intentionally imperfect.
No. GenAI Clock is a standalone app and does not modify or replace your system watch face. The watch complication displays AI-generated art within Apple's standard complication slots.
Long-press your watch face, tap Edit, swipe to the complications section, tap a rectangular slot, and select GenAI Clock from the list.
Long-press your home screen, tap the + button, search for GenAI Clock, and choose from small, medium, or large sizes. A World Clock widget is also available.
On Apple Watch, long-press the clock face in the app to open Settings, then enable or disable styles. On iPhone, open the app and go to Settings to select your preferred styles.
Turn the Digital Crown to preview different minutes. The display automatically returns to the current time after 10 seconds.
Widgets rely on the system's WidgetKit framework, which has aggressive caching. Try these steps:
No. All clock face images are stored locally on your device. The app works entirely offline.
